The First Lite North Branch Soft Shell Jacket
Designed and built for versatility covering a wide range of conditions, the First Lite North Branch Soft Shell Jacket uses the same ultra-versatile fabric as the North Branch Pants to combine technology, fit, and function into a jacket that can be worn during the bulk of the season. The cutting edge design of the North Branch allows for total freedom of movement, complete thermal regulation and all-day comfort. First Lite’s proprietary DuraFace stretch fabric with fleece liner is highly water resistant, wind proof, durable, and with 37.5’s Active Particle Technology, very breathable (10,000 MVTR).

I have used this jacket for the entire deer season in NE Alabama. I am 6'3"--225# and the 2XL is perfect for me and allows layers underneath. Note that the hard face exterior holds the cold temps and readily transfers this to the interior and is noticeable--even in the fleece lined hand warmer pockets. This is still a quality jacket for 50 degrees and above. Just know going in that a couple layers of first lite wool and then a puffy jacket or an ultra lightweight goose down jacket underneath is required for lower temperatures.

I have almost the entire first lite system from multiple base layer weights up to the sanctuary jacket and bought the birth branch jacket as an everyday (not hunting) jacket. It fits well and works as advertised. It is lighter weight material than I thought before ordering it, but that is good with me. Fit is true to size according to first lite fitting system

Very solid and fits true to size. I'm 5'10 & 215 lbs a typically wear a large.
The cut of the jacket is great, athletic but room to layer. To test this I layered it with Cabela's polar weight thermal, an Under Armour fleece line compression shirt, and First Lites's Labrador Full Zip Sweater. The jacket zipped right up and was still comfortable through the arms for drawing my bow. This jacket is warm on its own as well.
The fabric isn't dead quite but unless you plan on making sudden movements or dancing in your tree stand it should be just fine.

This is a very comfortable jacket. Can't wait to try it out this year. It is very form fitting.

i just got back from hunting stags in close bush in east cape of new zealand. quite mild so the jacket turned out to be a little warm however no fault of the jacket - in slightly colder situations i think it would be fine. overall build quality is good, quiet zippers, handy pocket on bicep, big side pockets very useful and also secure (not flimsy like the light mesh you often get), snug fit but not too tight (ok with light base layer or extra layer too). unfortunately it is the solid colour (dry earth) which happens to be almost exactly the same colour as the stags i was hunting so potential for getting shot by mistake by some of the dumbo pseudo-hunters that unfortunately are allowed to roam free in this fine country. looking forward to testing it in colder weather but expect it to be a good performer based on what i have experienced so far.
good call with the solid colour as it makes it wearable in civilization as well as in the bush.

This works great for windy days. With minimal layering, I'm good down to the lower 40's in a stand with a lot of wind. The cut is a 'little" tighter comparatively to First Lite's other outer wear- more of a true athletic cut. The fabric is not dead quiet by any means, but it really hasn't been an issue in the field. One of the things I like the most is the pockets... big pockets that let you spread your fingers out, not just bunched up in a ball. Will weather showers that may pop up also.

I really dont know where to start on this jacket cause these are so many positives. This will be my new all purpose jackets. The fit is great and has plenty of length unlike many of the other brands. Seems to have a windstopper type fabric even though it isnt advertised. Very warm jacket and buy adding a base layer this jacket can stand up to the toughest conditions. Ill be wearing this jacket on my moose hunt this year to Canada and all of my mule deer hunts out west. Ill even wear this jacket around town......Firstlite did it right!!!!
